Episode 8 University of Houston HUB Community
Dr. Linelle Clark is the Director of Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Operations at the
University of Houston.
Dr. Clark was originally recruited to help establish funding for the college of medicine and then
transitioned to her current position.
Dr. Clark stated that the University of Houston established their own internal HUB database
where all staff can use the database to identify a registered HUB vendor. Their primary goal is
to get vendors registered so that they are visible to the University of Houston community.
Purchasing decision under $25,000 are made at the college campus level; which is posted on
the ESBD. The colleges are required to get 3 quotes and one must come from a HUB.
Dr. Clark emphasized that vendors would benefit from contacting the purchasing person
directly.
Dr. Clark stated that as a vendor the most effective way to create a relationship with the
university is by submitting a vendor profile, reach out to her office and be patient.
